In life you can own a lot of things, clothing, video games, books, but despite what some people may think concepts/styles you didn't personally create aren't one of them, whether they be clothing, make up, foods, dances, jewelery unless you invented yourself invented it, you don't get to claim ownership of it.
I don't care if the concept/style is a large part of your culture or invented by your cultural ancestors, you don't own that and you damn well don't get to say who can and can't use it just because you slight genetic attachment to the original person who started the concept or style.
If you didn't figure it out by now I'm talking once again about cultural segregation or cultural copyright or as proponents would have you call it "cultural appropriation". Which despite what some on tumblr might have you believe is not a social justice issues, it's an issue of injustice, and as far as I'm concerned needs to be addressed least it undo many of the actual advances social justice has made in the last century.
My view point on this is not one from ignorance, I've listened to the other-side; I've considered their point of view and in some areas they have legitimate points which should not be dismissed. These days though I rarely see those legitimate points and far more often see a toxic harmful culture, which is far more racist (more prejudice if you rather that term) than the culture it's claiming to be speaking out against.
I've thought about this issue long and hard, I judged it with both my head, my heart and outside of my race; I understand the reasoning behind the thinking, but I disagree with it. (There are plenty of other issues where I did the reverse and came down hard on the side I wasn't on to begin with but this time it just hardened my resolve.)
Originally I only saw some people saying white folks couldn't wear clothing or styles originally made in their culture; but recently I've started to see what I've feared from the start, I've begun to see black women get attacked for daring to wear a kimono, I've seen people commenting that people of other races or cultures aren't allowed to draw or write in styles of other cultures or styles inspired by other cultures, and I've even seen a middle eastern girl get harassed for "appropriating" middle eastern culture when that was own culture to begin with and I've seen the same thing happen to a black girl who got accused of not just "appropriating" but also "black face" and they were black.
This needs to stop, you aren't helping anyone if you do this, in my opinion you are doing far more harm than good to everyone involved. I understand where you are coming from but you need to understand, you don't own those concepts; Nobody does, and you have no right to say who can and cannot use them, there's no genetic or cultural copyright, nor should there be.
P.S. -
Up in Boston, and many other places every year on Saint Patrick's Day, everyone from Italians to Asians getting drunk, pissing in the streets, wearing green, getting in fights and saying that makes them "Irish". Down in Washington, D.C, there's team called the Redskins whose fans dress up like racist caricatures newspaper comics stopped using 60 years ago, and almost everyone misuses the word karma and has no clue what the term actual means, These are legit examples of appropriation and racism, not the sharing and mixing of cultures which people for some reason now think is a bad thing. But someone drawing anime characters, doing Asian martial arts, or wearing a piece of fucking fabric that wasn't first worn by a white person is not one of them.
Everything we have today, is a remix of what came before. This includes culture.

New Job! Happy Pride
Long time no journal. After a long bout of unemployment I have found work as of last week and already started working there. I'm not a huge fan of the place, or their expectations but the location is nice. The structure of a job will be good though, once I figure out how to adjust energy levels after shifts and during my work week again. That way I can manage being creative, keeping up with media and interacting with folks. Sadly, it is in person work. However, part time and I'm wearing my N95's for every shift. Not just for Covid, but also because I don't want any dust to get in my sinuses and cause any issues. Additionally, Happy Pride month!
Shakura's Sunset 6th Anniversary
6 Years ago today I started posting my webtoon/webcomic and to this day it's 50+ page run is still one of my proudest accomplishments https://www.deviantart.com/vyctorian/art/Shakura-s-Sunset-Page-1-557961488 In lieu of flowers, do something creative. I was motivated to do so by the passing of Monty Oum (Dead Fantasy, Haloid, RWBY) earlier in that year. Thank you, Monty. We'll always miss you.
Devious Journal Entry
I bought my first art tablet with a screen display and just holding it in my hands I felt the symbolic weight it carried with it like when I got got my first art tablet.
That "holy shit, I AM an artist" internal validation, followed by a sense of responsibility and determination that isn't super intense but comes from deep down and shifts your expressions and thought process instantly and instantly evaporates any buyers remorse and questions on if this was the right purchase.
I haven't waned philosophically on art and being an artist for a while at least not in written (for consumption form) but it's always on my mind.
